Two new competitions, launched under Innovate UK’s Battery Innovation Programme, will provide up to £20 million in funding to accelerate innovative projects.
Both the Feasibility Studies and Concept Development strands close on 17 December 2025 and offer grants of up to £500,000 and £4 million respectively.
Projects must be delivered by SMEs alongside other project partners, such as academic institutions or other businesses. Innovate UK is particularly interested in funding projects focused on:
- UK equipment manufacturing and process capability for cell and battery production
- Reuse, recovery and recycling of batteries
- Localised battery supply chains and industrial resilience
Here are the key things you need to know about these competitions, including who’s eligible and how much funding you can apply for.
