Innovate UK is offering substantial grants to agriculture and food technology companies in North and Mid Wales.
Closing on 20 August 2025, the Agri-tech and food technology, Mid and North Wales competition is being delivered in partnership with the Welsh Government, Growing Mid Wales and Ambition North Wales.

Am I eligible for this competition?
Your organisation
To apply, you must be working with one or more partners in a consortium.
Consortia can include any type of organisation, such as companies, charities, and universities, so long as they’re registered in the UK.
However, to lead a consortium, you need to be a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in one of the following areas:
- Anglesey
- Ceredigion
- Conwy
- Denbighshire
- Flintshire
- Gwynedd
- Powys
- Wrexham
Your consortia or ‘project team’ must include at least one UK-registered SME. No one member of your project team can take on than 70% of your project costs.
Your project
To qualify for funding, your project must:
- Last 6-16 months
- Start on or after 1 December 2025
- End by 31 March 2027
You must carry out all of your project work in the UK and intend to exploit the result from your project in the UK as well.
How much funding can I apply for?
Your consortium can apply for a grant worth £150,000 to £500,000.
If you are a company, the grant will cover between 25% and 70% of your project costs, depending on what type of project you’re looking to undertake and how large your company is.

Here’s how much you can apply for if you are not a company:
- 100% of your project costs – if you are an RTO, charity, not-for-profit organisation, public sector organisation or research organisation
- 80% of your full economic costs if you are a Je-S registered institution
How do I apply?
Applications are made via the Innovation Funding Service (IFS) portal and are judged by three independent assessors.
The application for this grant has four sections.
- Project details – This section is not scored and provides your assessors with background on your application.
- Application questions – This section has 11 questions, the last six of which are scored. It also includes appendices.
- Finances – This is where you break down your project costs.
- Project Impact – This is where you describe what impact your project will have in terms of your industry and the wider world. It isn’t scored but provides valuable context for your assessors.
