Grant Competition: Eureka Quantum Collaborative R&D Multilateral 2024

Innovate UK is offering up to £500,000 in grant funding for collaborative industrial research projects in quantum technology.

The £2 million Eureka Quantum collaborative R&D Multilateral 2024 competition is designed to help organisations create innovative products, processes, or services with high market potential. This means the potential to generate significant revenue from customers.

To qualify for this grant, you must partner with at least one company from a country that is a member of Eureka and participating in this competition.

This competition closes on 8 May 2024 at 11 am. Below are the key things you need to know about its eligibility criteria and the amount of funding you can apply for.

If you want to know whether you’re eligible for this competition or are looking for support preparing a high-quality application, my colleagues and I in GrantTree’s grant funding team are here to help. Just get in touch.

Am I eligible for this competition?

To help you understand whether you’re eligible for the Eureka Quantum Collaborative R&D Multilateral 2024 competition, we’ve broken out the eligibility criteria into two sections: your project and your organisation.

Your project

Your project must have what Innovate UK calls “high market potential”, i.e. the potential to generate significant revenue from customers.

Your project must seek to achieve at least one of the following outcomes:

  • innovative products
  • technology-based applications
  • technology-based services

Your project can last up to 36 months and must start no earlier than 1 April 2025.

Your company

To qualify for this grant, you must be or be working with a UK-registered micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME).

Your consortium must include independent legal entities from at least two Eureka countries participating in this grant. They are:

  • Austria
  • Belgium (Flanders)
  • Belgium (Wallonia)
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Israel
  • Lithuania
  • The Netherlands
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Türkiye

How much funding can I apply for?

You can apply for up to £500,000 in grant funding.

However, Innovate UK will only cover a percentage of your project costs. How much the innovation agency will cover depends on your company’s size:

  • Innovate UK will fund 70% of your costs if you’re a micro or small business
  • 60% if you’re a medium-sized business
  • 50% if you’re a large business

So, if you are a small business looking to conduct a £400,000 project, you can apply for up to £280,000 in grant funding.

UK-registered organisations can share up to 30% of the total eligible costs incurred in the UK.
